Climate Proofers: Craig Davies on the Adaptation-Financial Regulation Nexus
Hear from experts on the cutting-edge of adaptation & resilience

Financial regulators are no strangers to climate change. Over the last decade, a large number of them have taken steps to enforce mandatory climate disclosures for companies and financial institutions. Some have also imposed rules on how so-called "green funds" should be labelled, and what investments they should be allowed to hold.
However, adaptation and resilience have arguably been underrepresented in the blizzard of paper coming out of regulators’ offices.
Craig Davies, CEO at the climate consultancy Cadlas, joins Climate Proofers to talk about the state of financial regulation vis-a-vis adaptation, and what regulatory developments could help unlock the capital necessary to power the fledgling adaptation economy.
Listen online or download from the Podcasts page on Climate Proof, or tune in via Spotify or Apple Podcasts.
We talk about:
👉 The reasons why there’s been slow progress by financial regulators on adaptation and resilience as an investment theme
👉 Whether a laissez-faire or more hands-on approach is needed from regulators to unlock capital for the adaptation economy
👉 What emerging regulatory efforts Craig has his eye on
Future guests include Dr Paul Munday from S&P Global Ratings, Ujala Qadir from the Climate Bonds Initiative, and Sebastian Tranæus of RallyCap VC.
