Adaptation planning is taking place at every level of the public realm. While national governments beaver away on country-wide adaptation plans, subnational and local governments are getting to grips with their own distinctive risks, opportunities, and resilience needs.
Drafting coherent, “bankable” adaptation plans at a local scale is a weighty task, requiring officials to juggle all kinds of stakeholders and coordinate with multiple levels of government.
Fortunately, it’s not a task regions have to tackle alone. In the European Union, the Climate Change Adaptation Mission is helping 150 regions become climate resilient by 2030 through all manner of initiatives and support frameworks.
One of these is Pathways2Resilience, a program which today’s Climate Proofer plays a leading role in. Kit England, a UK-based senior climate resilience and adaptation specialist at Paul Watkiss Associates, has over ten years’ experience in adaptation planning and implementation at the local, national, and supranational levels.
He joins Louie on the podcast to talk about his experiences and share his thoughts on the type of coordination and collaboration needed to create joined-up adaptation plans at the local level and beyond.
Listen below, download from the Podcasts page on Climate Proof, or tune in via Spotify or Apple Podcasts.
We talk about:
