Lauren Smart has joined Bloomberg as Global Head of Sustainable Finance. She assumes the role after a lengthy tenure at S&P Global, where she served most recently as Head of Sustainable1, the umbrella organization for the financial intelligence company’s sustainability businesses. Smart joined S&P Global after the company acquired Trucost, an environmental economics start-up she helped lead. At Bloomberg, she will head up the firm’s sustainable finance business with responsibility for strategy, growth, and execution.
Amanda Staudt is joining the American Meteorological Society (AMS) as its new Executive Director from March. The AMS serves as the professional society for weather, water, and climate sciences and services across the US. Staudt joins from Climate Crossroads, an initiative of the National Academies of Sciences, Engineering, and Medicine that drives actions to meet the climate crisis. She is a 20-year atmospheric scientist with long experience connecting science to society to inform decision making and support resilience.
Luca Arbau has joined the European Environment Agency as a Climate Risk & Resilience Expert, where he will participate in crafting the second European Union Climate Risk Assessment, which is slated for publication in late 2028. The inaugural analysis was produced in 2024. Arbau joins from ICLEI Europe, an organization of local and regional governments committed to sustainable urban development.

New Roles & Promotions
Katie Walsh has been promoted to Global Director, Cities, States and Regions at CDP, the environmental data platform. She previously held the role of Head of Climate Finance, Cities, States and Regions and prior to that filled various positions at the organization’s North America arm.
Departures
Ulf Erlandsson has exited the Anthropocene Fixed Income Institute (AFII), the sustainable finance non-profit he founded and had led as CEO since 2020. The organization produces research, data, and representative portfolios for institutional investors looking to understand how fixed income instruments can further climate and environmental goals. While at AFII, Erlandsson pioneered the Contingent Resilience-Linked (CORL) bond structure, a concept for rewarding fixed income issuers for enhancing their resilience over the course of the bond’s term. Erlandsson is returning to AP4, the Swedish public pension fund, where he will serve as Senior Fixed Income Portfolio Manager. He had an earlier stint at AP4 from 2009 to 2017. With his departure, Justine Leigh-Bell has been appointed CEO of AFII. She has served as Co-CEO of the organization since July 2025, and as Executive Director since 2021.
Magali Caroline Van Coppenolle has stepped down from her role as Global Head of Policy at the Climate Bonds Initiative, a non-profit that promotes sustainable finance taxonomies for fixed income instruments that support climate and environmental goals. Coppenolle had been with the organization since 2023, and had previous roles at the Bank of England and consultancy Avantage Reply.
